Fargo 1/2 Marathon
Matt and I have no pictures to prove it. You have to pay a lot of money to get those professional pictures of you running your heart out! I trained for 5 months. It was the hardest I have ever had to push myself. After just having a baby, I had to lose an extra 20 lbs of pure fat, build up some lean muscle and get some long miles in. We did Paleo style and got back on track. Training at a pace of 7:30, I had a goal of 1:40. Just nearly dropped out of the race the day before because of my back injury and two weeks of another strain of influenza, but I didn't and I am so glad! I started at an 8:00 pace and felt great at mile three, so bumped it up to a 7:45 pace. I knew the last three miles would be the worst. At mile 11, I told myself to run it for the boys and I did. My pace slowed down some, but I was able to push on and finish! 200 yards away from the finish, I see the most handsome runner I know! Yes, Matt. He stopped and waited a couple of minutes for me so that we could finish together! He said it didn't make a difference to him what time he got, but for a competitive soul like his, it made a difference. To him, finishing with me meant more and I feel so lucky to have such an awesome husband to share a hobby with! Here's to a crazy summer of races! Let the fun begin!
